PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Fibroblast Growth Factor-b Human Recombinant (FGF-2) produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 155 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 17353 Dalton. The FGF-b is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

SOURCE:
Escherichia Coli.

FORMULATION:
The protein was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) sterile solution containing 5mM Na-PO4 and 100mM NaCl.

PURITY:
Greater than 98.0% as determined by:
(a) Analysis by RP-HPLC.
(b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE

STORAGE:
Although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, it should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution it should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

SOLUBILITY:
It is recommended to reconstitute in sterile H2O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY:
Fibroblast Growth Factor-b is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependant proliferation of BAF3 cells expressing FGF receptors (measured by 3H-thymidine uptake) is <0.5 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 2 x 106 Units/mg.
